Punte di vento is a plaid/tapestry animated by dynamic markings that trace the movements of the wind and the currents inhabiting the atmosphere. The blanket—material and warm—thus becomes visually weightless, while colour evokes the nuances of the last ray of sun on the horizon and the different blues of the sky just before nightfall.
Produced by Lanificio Leo, the oldest textile mill in Calabria, founded in 1973, Punte di vento is made of 100% wool and is woven using an electronic knitting machine with a three-colour jacquard piqué technique. The design, developed in bitmap, is then translated into textile CAD, so that each coloured pixel corresponds to a specific gesture of the yarn on the needle.
